The Integrated Development Project of
Valamchuzy Temple
It has been decided to conduct at Vaalanchuzy temple "The
Temple renewal Programmes" that
need to be conducted every 12 years at every Hindu Temple.This renewal programme at Valamchuzy is a follow up to the "
Ashtamangallya Deva Prasnam" conducted on the 13, 14 and 15th of February
2006. Leading astrologers including Prof.Mannar N P Krishnapilla and Prof.K P Kesavan
Namboodiri took part in the "Deva Prasnam". Consequent upon this, Mr. Kanipayyur Krishnan Namboothiri visited the Valanchuzy temple
on the 13th
March and suggested certain measures including certain modifications that had to be undertaken at the
temple. A master plan based on his suggestions had been prepared; prominent
among the modifications was the need to construct steps in the courtyard and an adorned dome
for the temple.
It has been estimated that the entire cost of the project will be over 75 lakhs. Devotees are welcome to be active participants in the project by
sponsoring certain portions of the work. Devotees can donate Rs. 25,000/-
for each padi(step) to be erected. Highly skilled workers from Tamil Nadu would
be brought over to complete the work at the temple.
Chuttambalam
The existing Chuttambalam would be refurnished and re-erected and new
tiles put in place. The cost is expected to be over 1.70 lakhs.
Mandapam
The Mandapam located in front of the Sreekovil will also be given a
facelift. The expected cost cost is Rs. 3 Lakhs.
Auxiliary temple :
Sivan, Ganapathy
It has also been decided to construct auxiliary temples in the North East
side for Lord Siva and on the South West side for Ganapathy. The cost is
expected to be 4 Lakhs and 1.5 lakhs respectively.
Sevapandal
A Sevapandal constructed as per traditional Kerala architectural style is
to come up. Expected cost is Rs. 9 Lakhs.
Stage & Sadyalayam
An open air stage on the Eastern side of the ground is also planned.
Expected cost Rs. 2.5 Lakhs.
Boundary Wall, Walkway
A boundary wall and a walk way are also planned. This will facilitate better
viewing of the the temple premises
Way for processions
A separate walkway is also planned for use by devotees during procession.
